TWO EMBROIDERED 'NAKSH' PANELS, PERSIA, 19TH CENTURY
one of rectangular format with diagonal lines of flowers and foliage, with a four-sided delicate floral border, and another smaller shaped panel fragment, with diagonal floral pattern (lacking border)
one approximately: 70 by 50cm, the other: 45 by 41cm.; 2ft. 3½in. by 1ft. 7¾in. by 1ft. 4in.
Probably Rose Berkeley (1861-1922)
Sometimes called 'Gilet Persan', these embroideries were in fact used to decorate the trousers of Persian ladies.
