A striking image of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project's (ASTP) space vehicle lifting-off from Pad B, Launch Complex 39, at Kennedy Space Center, at 3:50 p.m. (EDT) on 15 July 1975, beginning Apollo's catch-up journey toward the already Earth-orbiting Soviet Soyuz spacecraft. Aboard the Apollo spacecraft were Commander Tom Stafford, Command Module Pilot Vance Brand, and Docking Pilot Deke Slayton.
