Description

The Vintage NASA Photo Collection of Philip Kulpa

[APOLLO 16]

THE LUNAR ROVER NEXT TO LM ORION ON THE LUNAR SURFACE. 21 APRIL 1972.

Vintage NASA “Red Number” chromogenic color photograph, 10 by 8 inches, “A Kodak Paper” watermark to verso. NASA image ID “NASA AS16-107-17436” printed in upper left margin in red; minor toning, minor crease to surface.

An excellent view of LM Orion and the Lunar Rover on the surface of the moon. The image was captured by LMP Charlie Duke at the Descartes landing site during the first EVA of the Apollo 16 mission. Commander John Young can be seen just behind the Lunar Rover, and beyond him, Stone Mountain.
