A RARE MEISSEN TEABOWL AND SAUCER AND TWO CHINESE FLUTED SAUCERS CIRCA 1735-40 AND QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD

清康熙 礬紅描金菊瓣小盤兩件 


flowers painted trailing downwards from the rim, the saucer painted in the center with flowering plants within concentric circles and in the cavetto with a further three flowering plants, the underside with concentric circles, both with trelliswork borders on the interior rims, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, teabowl with incised Dreher's mark incised Dreher's mark // for Johann Gottlieb Geithner (Rückert, 1990, p. 108), saucer with incised Dreher's marks /, a quartered circle, and numeral 2; each Chinese saucer painted in the center with flowering sprigs issuing from a rectangular jardinière with a scholar's rock in the center supported by a recessed leg table, both with incised Japanese Palace inventory numbers N=96-/ ↑.

Diameter of Meissen saucer: 5⅛ in.

Condition Report

The Meissen teabowl and saucer: The teabowl with a small flat chip to the footring, probably from manufacturing, otherwise in overall good condition. The saucer in overall good condition. One Chinese saucer with some minor rim frits, original to the firing. The other Chinese saucer also with minor frits and chips around the rim, the largest measuring approx. 0.6 cm to the exterior of the rim. All pieces with light surface wear and minor firing imperfections.
