Original canvas which is slightly slack on its stretcher. There is a dent in the face of the central hooded figure in the upper middle and another in the upper right corner with associated paint loss. There are a number of surface abrasions and losses to the paint layer, notably to the neck and face of the figure at the bottom of the left edge; to the base of the knight on the left; to the lilac hooded figures; to the dress of the lady in purple lower right and other minor scattered losses, some of which have been crudely retouched. Inspection under UV light reveals small areas of retouching scattered throughout, notably to the two faces lower left, across the face of the man fourth from the left at the top and to the lady in purple lower right. Unframed.
