PETR ALEXANDROVICH SUKHODOLSKY
A COASTAL VIEW IN CRIMEA
oil on canvas
signed and inscribed Krym in Cyrillic and dated 91 l.r.
44 by 63cm, 17¼ by 24¾in.
The canvas has been reinforced with a wax lining. There is some minor buckling in places, most notably to the cliff on the left. Fine craquelure is visible throughout. There are minor abrasions with some associated losses along the edges. The varnish is discoloured and there is a light layer of surface dirt with the odd fleck of dirt in places. Inspection under UV light reveals fine scatted retouching to the sky, most notably on the right. Held in a gilt wooden frame with decorative mouldings.
