TWO GILT-METAL TORTOISESHELL SNUFF BOXES, FRENCH, EARLY 19TH CENTURY


Both circular, the first inset with a fixé sous verre miniature of cattle watering, by Auguste Xavier Leprince, signed and dated 1816, apparently unmarked; the second inset with a miniature depicting a cowherd and his animals, on ivory, by Auguste Xavier Leprince, signed, circa 1820, apparently unmarked; together with two other boxes, both inset with fixé sous verre landscape miniatures, French School, early 19th century, one tortoiseshell-lined poudre d’écaille with gold mounts, the other tortoiseshell with gilt-metal mounts, both apparently unmarked
