A SCANDINAVIAN SILVER PEG TANKARD, UNMARKED, NORWEGIAN OR DANISH, CIRCA 1696


on three ball and claw feet with a gadrooned ball finial and scroll handle, embossed and chased with scrolling flowers, the cover inset with a Christian V King of Denmark, Norway the Wends and Goths, Thaler of 1696, cover with pricked initialsbody engraved initials K:S:W:A:O:D:

A post card with the tankard dated Good Friday 1946, records `Norwegian cup which belonged to Tom Vesey for many years. He had had it since he used to visit Norway as a child. Left me by him and arrived today. Tom died on February Ist' Signed `Fairhaven' `Lieutenant Colonel Hon T. P. Vesey/9 Fairhill/Englefield Green/Surrey/youngest brother of 5th Viscount de Vesci.
