IRVING PENN | 'VIONNET DRESS WITH FAN' (NEW YORK)
'VIONNET DRESS WITH FAN' (NEW YORK)
platinum-palladium print, signed, titled, dated, editioned '7/37,' and annotated in pencil and stamped on the reverse, framed, 1974, printed in 1978
21 by 19⅝ in. (53.3 by 49.8 cm.)
This platinum-palladium print is in generally excellent condition. The margins are warm at the edges of the image, likely a result of processing. There are several stray graphite cropping notations along the left edge of the margin and two registration marks at the upper left and upper right corners of the image in the margin. There are a few faint yellow stains in the margin.
On the reverse of the print, the annotations in pencil are: 'M. S.,' '100-0006,' 'P_IP.02.0007,' 'P1082' [circled], 'Platinum-palladium / Print made April 1978.' The stamps read 'Hand-coated by the photographer' and 'Deacidified.'
The edition stamp on the reverse indicates that in addition to the 37 numbered prints in platinum, there may also exist no more than 45 unnumbered, but signed, gelatin silver prints.
