WEEGEE (ARTHUR FELLIG)
DUKE AND DUCHESS OF WINDSOR (DISTORTION)
large-format, flush-mounted to Masonite, mounted again to larger board, framed, a Matthew Marks Gallery label on the reverse, circa1960
23⅜ by 24¾ in. (59.3 by 62.9 cm.)
This impressive, large-format photograph, flush-mounted to Masonite and mounted again within the frame, is in generally good condition.
As is typical of Weegee photographs, there are signs of wear and use, including cracquelure; scattered deposits of retouching; faint staining; and age-appropriate yellowing. The edges are rubbed, with attendant tiny losses of emulsion, and the corners are rounded. In raking light, small matte-surface deposits, possibly foxing, are visible in the area between the sitters.
The reverse could not be inspected as it is fully affixed to board.
