This 1964 British-Greek comedy-drama was written, directed and produced by Michael Cacoyannis, and stars Anthony Quinn in the title role, together with Alan Bates, Lila Kedrova, Irene Papas and Sotiris Moustakas. It is based on the 1946 novel The Life and Times of Alexis Zorba by Nikos Kazantzakis. It tells the story of an English writer whose life changes when he meets the outgoing Alexis Zorba whilst on a business trip to Crete, where filming took place.
