Saul Bass, A Life in Film and Design, Laurence King Publishing 2011, page 149

This 1963 American drama was directed by Otto Preminger. The screenplay was written by Robert Dozier, and was based on Henry Morton Robinson's 1950 novel of the same name. The film is shown as a sequence of memory flashbacks, with the young Catholic priest tackling his personal conflicts, bigotry, abortion and Nazism, during his rise to become a cardinal.

This silkscreen poster was designed by Saul Bass, who printed it for his own private use. They were never sold and Bass gave some away as gifts to some of his colleagues. It is understood that a maximum of two hundred of these posters were printed, and the majority are in the Saul Bass archives.
