Property from a Dutch Private Collection

Venice, a view of the entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Palazzo Ducale and Santa Maria della Salute
signed lower left: chilone F.
oil on canvas, unlined
46.5 x 63.5 cm.; 18¼ x 25 in.
The canvas is unlined, the paint surface is clean, and the varnish is clear and even. There is a short, diagonal line of visible retouching in the sky above the main dome of Santa Maria della Salute, approx. 5cm. long. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms this, and reveals additional scattered spot retouchings in the sky and along the lower margin, but the composition is largely untouched. In overall good condition.
