Génillion was a French artist and pupil of Joseph Vernet, who greatly influenced his maritime and river landscapes. He exhibited several times in the Salon at Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris as well as in the palace of the Louvre. His works can be found in the Palais des Beaux Arts, Lille, Musée Carnavalet, Paris, and Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle.
A similar river landscape by Génillion, which was part of a pair, sold in Sotheby's New York for $29,500.(1)
