CIRCLE OF FRANCESCO DE MURA | MADONNA AND CHILD WITH THE INFANT SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST
4,000 - 6,000 USD
CIRCLE OF FRANCESCO DE MURA
MADONNA AND CHILD WITH THE INFANT SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST
oil on canvas, an oval
canvas: 29 by 23⅛ in.; 73.7 by 58.7 cm.
framed: 38 by 33¼ in.; 96.5 by 84.5 cm.
Canvas is lined. Painting appears slightly pressed, and paint has thinned with time like on the figure at left. Craquelure is visible throughout with what appears to be some minor pindots of loss on the background. Reading under UV is impeded due to an old dirty varnish, though there appears to be some old retouching to address the craquelure. Further spots of retouching might be on the shoulder of the child at right. Offered in a carved giltwoord framed.
