The panel is cradled, flat and stable. and the paint surface is relatively dirty with a yellowed varnish. The paint surface shows a degree of wear in areas, and there are visible, discoloured retouchings scattered throughout, notably along a vertical split which runs the height of the panel just left of centre, and to a repaired, horizontal damage along the left margin, a third of the way up, approx. 5 cm. long. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned intervention, but does not reveal much more than is visible to the naked eye, save for the extent of retouching in the flesh tones of the figures and the sky, which are mainly to reduce the appearance of craquelure. In overall moderate condition.
