The former (ducks): The canvas is lined, the paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. There are no damages visible to the naked eye. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a spot of retouching in the boulder upper left approx. 2 x 2 cm. Otherwise there are only a handful of pin-prick scattered retouchings, and the painting is in overall very good condition.
The latter (chickens): The canvas is lined, the paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an area of retouching in the sky and wall upper left approx. 15 x 15 cm., as well as retouching to an old, diagonal scratch in the upper left corner 7 cm. long. There are very few other retouchings which are all tiny and cosmetic, save for a spot in the wing of the chicken on the right which measures 1.5 x 1.5 cm. In overall good condition.
