Condition Report

Property from Various Owners is available to view at the Sotheby’s Greenford Park warehouse, 13 and 16 – 18 September (10 - 4pm), by appointment.

The panel has two horizontal battens running the height of the panel affixed to the reverse along the left and right margins, with further square battens scattered along both of these. There are four further square battens in two horizontal lines along the upper and lower centre of the panel. The paint surface has a very discoloured varnish, and there is visible frame abrasion along the left and upper margins. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals old, scattered spot retouchings, but it is difficult to discern much else underneath the thick, opaque varnish. The painting appears in overall fair condition.
