Condition Report

Property from Various Owners is available to view at the Sotheby’s Greenford Park warehouse, 13 and 16 – 18 September (10 - 4pm), by appointment.

The panel is cradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is relatively clean, and the varnish is discoloured. A slight degree of wear is evident throughout. In raking light it is possible to discern two horizontal bands of discoloured retouching running the width of the panel either side of centre, as well as a horizontal one along the upper margin. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms these, and further reveals small, fine lines of retouching in the figures in the foreground, and scattered in the upper half of the painting. In overall fair condition.
