signed and dated on the ledge centre right: P D.Ring fc/ 1652
oil on canvas
65.5 x 52.5 cm.; 25¾ x 20⅝ in.
The canvas is lined, the paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. There are no major damages visible to the naked eye. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an opaque varnish making restoration difficult to discern. There appear to be fine, vertical lines scattered throughout the background, and a few more notable retouchings: a spot 1.5 x 1.5 cm upper right as well as in the upper right corner; a vertical band along the centre of the right margin approx. 10 cm. long; a vertical band in the table just to the right of the plate approx. 6 cm. long and a spot below this; a vertical band centre left just to the left of the glass approx. 4 cm. long; a spot in the tassels of the table cloth lower centre; a spot just above the leaf upper centre; and a fine, vertical line in the background upper left approx. 12 cm. long. In overall seemingly good condition.
