ITALIAN, ROME, PROBABLY CIRCA 1700
BOY WITH AN ORB
white marble and coloured marble
Overall the condition of the marble is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are filled joints to the coloured marble, in particular around the proper right arm and to the drapery at the back. There is a further joint to the white marble at the arm, where there is some glue residue. There is veining to the marble, consistent with the material, including some darker veins to the face and some slightly open, circular veins to the coloured marble. There are reattachments to the thumb, index finger and middle finger on the proper right hand, and to the index finger on the proper left hand. There is a small chip to the proper left thumb, and there are further minor chips to the underside of the base.
