Prof. Jhr. Dr. Jan Six van Hillegom en Wimmenum (1857-1926);
Jhr. ir. G.C. (Gijs) Six van Wimmenum (1892–1975), thence by decent to the present owners
The inscription on the reverse of the drawing refers to Johannes Hop (1709-1772), Treasurer General of the Dutch Republic from 1753 to 1769, whose daughter Johanna Maria married Jan Six, Lord of Wimmenum, Hillegom and Vromade (1756-1827), bringing the estate into the Six family. The house seen here was designed by the celebrated architect Pieter Post, and built between 1663 and 1668, for Amelis van den Bouckhorst. It was replaced in 1823.
As Charles Dumas has kindly informed us, given that this fine drawing is not mentioned in any old sale catalogues, it must have been in the possession of the Hop and Six families ever since the time when it was made.
