TIME KING (VERTICAL ABSTRACTION NO. 2)

tempera on linen laid on board

192 by 124cm.; 75½ by 48¾in.

Executed in 1934.

The board appears sound. There is a pattern of craquelure throughout the work, with probable associated speckles of very minor loss or abrasion, some of which have probably been repaired. There is a faint scratch at the centre of the lower edge with probable more minor instances elsewhere. There is a variation to the colour of the cream background, with probable minor fading to some pigments in the main structure. There are possible areas of minor rubbing, including to the black pigment to the centre of the left edge. There is light surface dirt and a few small instances of surface matter. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition.

For a reading under ultra violet light, please contact the department.

The work is floated in a stained wooden box frame.
