STUDY FOR MFI BING

book, plaster, canvas and paint construction

length: 31cm.; 12¼in.

Conceived circa 1975.

The work consists of a painted book attached to a painted canvas raised base. The construction has been worked and distressed by the Artist. There appear to be some abrasions and associated losses to the corners of the base. There are some flecks of loss and evidence of lifting to the paint along the spine of the book; some of this may be in keeping with the Artist's intentions. There is a fine horizontal crack running along the front of the base, where the book joins the base. There are instances of surface matter, studio detritus and dirt in places. This excepting, the work appears in good condition.

The work is adhered to a painted wooden base and held within a perspex box.
