SPRING LIGHT OVER FOLIAGE

signed; also signed, titled and inscribed on a label adhered to the stretcher bar

oil on canvas

52.5 by 87cm.; 20½ by 34¼in.

Executed circa 1950-1955.

The canvas is original. There are Artist's pinholes at the upper corners. There is a faint stretcher bar mark at the left edge. There are three flecks of loss to the black pigment towards the right edge, with one or two further losses to impasto paint in the same area. There is minor reticulation to the black pigment, with a few further minor instances elsewhere. There are one or two faint scuffs to the edges of the work. There is light dirt and a few speckles of staining in places. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition.

Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a few instance of spot retouching towards the left edge. These have been very sensitively executed.

The work is held in a painted wooden frame.
