Condition Report

Overall in very good condition. Offered en suite with lot 28, this pair of armchairs also display strong visual presence when seen in person through the exceptional use of a bright red lacquer by Sornay. The red surfaces appear to be re-lacquered in a manner that is consistent with the original design and present with very faint surface scratches throughout that are not visible unless closely inspected. One armchair presents with an area of minor loss to lacquer on the armrest measuring approximately 1/4 inch and not visually distracting. The same armchair with very minor crackling to the back of the armrest in an area measuring approximately 2 inches wide and not visible unless closely inspected. The aluminum elements on the desk and armchair also appear to have been cleaned or restored at some point in the history of the piece and display a bright surface when seen in person. The aluminum presents with very light and superficial abrasions and minor variations in color as pictured in the catalogue photography. The upholstery on the armchair appears to have been sensitively replaced at some point in the history of the piece and presents a monochromatic, off-white surface in excellent condition.  The chairs presents beautifully with strong visual presence and outstanding lines.
