Property from the Antoinette and Patrick Murphy Collection
indistinctly signed with initials and indistinctly dated 73
charcoal, watercolour, gouache and pen and ink on paper
39 by 56cm.; 15¼ by 22in.
The sheet undulates slightly but appears sound. The sheet is attached to a mount with strips of adhesive tape to the centre of each edge. There are Artist's pinholes at each corner, not visible in the present mount. The lower edge has been unevenly cut or torn, not visible in the present mount. There is very minor creasing to the lower corners and in one or two places elsewhere. There is an instance of minor craquelure to the thicker area of pink gouache in the upper left quadrant, only visible upon close inspection. The watercolour may have slightly faded and the ink of the initialing and dating has significant fading. There is foxing and staining to the sheet and probable handling marks and dirt in places, and the sheet may have some time staining. There are a few instances of small spots of detritus in the paint and surface matter. This excepting, the work appears in good overall condition.
The work is window mounted and held behind glass in gilt painted wooden frame.
