Condition Report

The canvas is original. There are a few instances of very fine lines of craquelure in isolated areas to the work largely to the black pigment, including to the upper left of the face, towards the left edge below centre and in the black to the lower left of centre, only visible upon close inspection, with probable further more minor instances elsewhere. There is probable minor blooming to the burgundy pigment with more minor probable instances to the black pigment. There are a few minor instances of flattened impasto tips with one or two very minor lost impasto tips. There is a small possible fleck of loss to the centre of the extreme right hand edge, with a further tiny fleck in the lower left hand corner. There is light surface dirt in places and a few instances of very minor flecks of surface matter and studio detritus. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition.

Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching.

The work is unframed.
