Property From An Important Private Collection
AUGUSTUS JOHN, R.A.
STUDY OF A FEMALE NUDE, BUST-LENGTH
charcoal on paper
23 by 15.5cm.; 9 by 6in.
The sheet is secured to the mount with one tab of adhesive tape along the upper edge. The sheet has a small tear and associated loss in the extreme upper left corner, and one further smaller loss in the upper right corner. The right and lower edges are slightly unevenly cut. There is an Artist's pinhole at the centre of the lower edge. There is evidence of mount staining around the sheet, to all four edges, in line with two separate previous mounts. There are a small number of tiny nicks to the edges in places. None of the above is visible in the present mount. There is some surface dirt to the sheet, largely confined to the extreme edges. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition.
The sheet is window mounted and held behind glass in a simple wooden frame.
