The modern Pagoda references 4900 and 5500 were inspired by the 1950s reference 2441, also known as the 'Eiffel Tower'. Reference 5500 was created in 1997 to commemorate the opening of Patek Philippe's watchmaking center in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva.
The exclusive reference was limited to 2,000 pieces with 1,100 examples in yellow gold, 500 examples in pink gold, 250 examples in white gold, and 150 in platinum. The present example is in very good overall condition, and is offered today in a Patek Philippe plastic seal.
