The present lot, with its elongated curved rectangular form, perfectly exemplifies Patek Philippe's aesthetic in the 1930s and 1940s. This elegant shape was so beloved by collectors that Patek Philippe created a limited edition model, reference 5105, in 2006 in 100 platinum examples only.
To the best of our knowledge, about 150 pieces in this reference were produced in various metals. Fewer than 15 yellow gold pieces have appeared at auction to date. The present lot in yellow gold is further enhanced by its silvered dial dressed with applied Breguet numerals.
