In 2005, Cartier introduced a first in commercial watch making, marrying two highly complex and desirable complications in one watch. Since the late 1920s, Cartier has made mono pusher chronographs (with European Watch Company ‘EWC’ movements), where the watch's crown is used for the start-stop-reset functions of the chronograph. In this instance, they decided to combine this historic complication with one of watchmaking’s great complications, the tourbillon. The commission for this movement was given to ‘Manufacture d'Horlogerie Renaud et Papi SA’.
Housed in a platinum case and limited to 50 pieces, this was the pinnacle of Cartier’s foray into Haute Horology.
