Description

MOZART, WOLFGANG AMADEUS

Scelta di scene, duetti ed arie posti in musica dei più celebri maestri...No 11. Scena ed Aria del Signore Mozart [K.505] [vocal score and orchestral parts], Offenbach am Main: Johann André, [after 1796]

Early edition of the Scena and Rondo for Soprano and Orchestra "Ch'io mi scordi di te...Non temer, amato bene", K.505, the complete parts, 11 [piano and voice], 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1 pages, folio (33.5 x 25cm), engraved music, plate number 2742, some old manuscript annotations, splitting to spine of vocal score, browning to edges of vocal score; together with a manuscript score and a manuscript vocal score of K.505, late C18th or early C19th, the vocal score inscribed by Ernst Rudorff ("...Lichtenstein'scher Nachlass")

Mozart's sublime scena was written for 'Mad.selle Storace [the soprano Nancy Storace, 1765-1817)] und mich', as the entry under the date of 26 December in Mozart's catalogue of his own works, the Verzeichnüss, tellingly records. The first publication of the work was in vocal score, by Breitkopf (1795). Of the present edition, which evidently appeared after André's 1796 edition with plate number 905, RISM records no copies in Great Britain or America.
