8vo (151 x 95mm.), woodcut Aldine device on title-page and final verso, italic text, nineteenth-century marbled calf gilt, spine gilt in compartments, traces of gauffered edges, some text crossed through (see footnote), AA2-3 torn in margin, ink stains on last two leaves, binding slightly rubbed with a few small wormholes

This copy is marked "Correctus et expurgatus" on the title-page, and several passages and words in the book have been crossed through in black ink in accordance with the corrections required from at least 1584 by the Sacred Congregation of the Index. This edition is the first to contain an index of the text.
