folio (c. 280 x 200mm.), manuscript on vellum, 102 leaves, complete, collation: i-viii12, ix6, written with 28 lines per page in a rounded script based on roman type, a few panels in gold on red backgrounds, with TWO FULL-PAGE MINIATURES at the beginning depicting a husband and wife with their two sons and three daughters, kneeling before a vision of the Virgin on the crescent moon, facing a heraldic display page, above ‘Don Phelippe por la gracia’, and a smaller PORTRAIT MINIATURE at the end, contemporary calf elaborately gilt, including stamps of the lion and castle of Leon & Castille and a plateresque roll-tooled border, four modern orange silk ties, binding restored at edges with new endpapers, small defects on covers
