Description

BRUNUS ARETINUS, LEONARDUS

Isagogon moralis disciplina. [Sant'Orso: Johannes de Reno, c. 1475]

4to (200 x 140mm.), 14 leaves, a8 b6, 25 lines, roman type, early annotations, deckle edges, modern vellum, slightly foxed

The incipit states that this a translation by Bruni of Aristotle's Ethica ad Eudemum, but it is in fact a work by Bruni aimed at popularising Aristotle's philosophy which was partly based on Cicero's De finibus. This is one of just a handful of books probably printed at Sant'Orso (near Vicenza) in the fifteenth century, all printed around the year 1475, by printers also associated with Padua and Vicenza.
