4to (213 x 149mm.), large woodcut on title-page above printer's device, a smaller printer's device at end, woodcut initials, modern crushed green morocco, gilt edges, G1-2 slightly torn at foot of gutter

A rare edition of Alexander de Villa Dei's popular textbook on Latin grammar. The woodcut depicts a teacher sitting at a lectern before eight pupils.

Edit16 74045 (listing one copy only, in Fermo); not in Sander, though Sander 243 is Sessa's 1513 edition with the same woodcut

PROVENANCE:

Monastery of San Francesco, Foiano della Chiana (Tuscany), inscription at head of title-page in Latin and on second leaf in Italian; library stamp erased from foot of title-page and final leaf
