The inscription around the rim reads: “Remember and observe the Sabbath day and keep it holy” (see Ex. 20:8 and Deut. 5:12).


Joseph Moye, became master in 1689 and died in 1740, was a maker who included religious silver in his oeuvre. See Helmut Seling, Die Augsburger Gold-und Silberschmiede 1529-1868, no. 1841, pp. 407-408.
