Overall in excellent condition. The sideboard has been recently conserved by Paul Evan’s lead craftsman, Dorsey Reading, and displays beautifully with a rich earth-tone palette accented with gold. The four doors open to two separate compartments, each with one adjustable shelf. The sculpted elements with some minute losses to the gilt and polychrome surfaces, consistent with age and gentle use. The base (executed by Dorsey Reading) and proper right and left sides of the case with some scattered scuffing and faint surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. The interior wood shelves present with minor indentations concentrated to the edges of the shelves, and some areas of scuffing concentrated to where the doors meet the shelves, consistent with age and gentle use. The slate top presents with scattered very faint surface scratches and with a very small and shallow edge chip near the proper left back corner measuring approximately 1/2 inch wide, consistent with age and gentle use. A complex and deeply sculptural work by Paul Evans with diverse decorations adorning the cabinet doors.
