painted and gilt to the top of the cover with a central stylised shou roundel surrounded by lotus blossoms borne on intertwining foliage and four bats with outstretched wings, the sides of the box similarly decorated, all reserved against a rich turquoise ground, the rims gilt, the base and interiors enamelled in turquoise
Length 16 cm, 6¼ in.
There are some rubbing to the gilding, small flakes and crackles to the enamels, and two small chips (the largest ca. 0.5 cm) to the lower edge of the box. Some wear to the interior rim of the cover is also visible.
