QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD
seated in lalitasana, the right hand lowered in varadamudra and the left positioned on the side, wearing a dhoti and a loose shawl over the shoulder, adorned with bejewelled necklaces to the chest and around the waist, the face with a benevolent expression with downcast eye, crowned with a tiara, the hair gathered in a high chignon, all supported on a matched lotus base densely decorated with overlapping layers of lotus petals and an individual lotus issuing from the base
Height 35.8 cm, 14⅛ in.
Several areas have chipped off, including three tips of the tiara, the earring and hair to the left, tips of the fingers, right foot, and a few tips of the lotus base. The hair ornament to the right of the head has been separated into sections and stabilised with a metal wire. There are overall wear and flakes to the gilding and red lacquer, and small cracks in various areas such as the bottom of the figure and base of the stand.
