A BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF SHAKYAMUNI
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
seated in dhyanasana, with his right hand in bhumisparsha mudra, his left hand in dhyana mudra, wearing a diaphanous robe with incised floral borders, the face with a serene expression
Height 24.6 cm, 9¾ in.
There are scattered holes and losses, including to areas underneath left armpit, behind the left shoulder and below the left foot. There is a casting flaw to the bottom left of the figure (ca. 4 cm). Some losses to the hair and surface wear are visible.
