SUEDE PURSE, ANNE-MARIE OF FRANCE, PARIS

Designed as a telephone with rotary dial, the front inscribed 'Anne-Marie, Paris, Ope. 44-39', opening to reveal a large compartment with interior pocket, signed Anne-Marie, 228, Rue de Rivoli, Hôtel Meurice, Paris; circa 1960.

Located on the ground floor of the grand Hôtel Meurice, Anne-Marie created fantastic surrealist novelty purses for Paris' elite. A version of this purse belongs in The New York Metropolitan Museum collection (accession no. 2010.251a–c).
