A NABESHIMA DISH, EDO PERIOD, LATE 17TH CENTURY


the shallow dish on ring foot decorated in iron-red, green and yellow enamels over underglaze blue, with cherry blossoms scattered on rafts in swirling water, decorated on the underside in underglaze blue with three flower sprays, each composed of a large floret centred by scrolling stems and leaves, with a band of comb design around the foot
