Original glassine over printed wrappers in publisher's gold foil over card slipcase; original glassine spine faded with two chips and slipcase with usual wear, but internally fine with the wrappers unusually clean and unfaded, a lovely copy.

First edition, one of 50 on Japanese vellum signed by Crane

Crane and Evans first met in 1928 under the Brooklyn Bridge and the poet later decided to use Evans' images to illustrate this American epic poem instead of images from Joseph Stella. Both the text and the photographs have become icons of Modernism.
