Description

MILNE, A. A.

The House at Pooh Corner. New York: E.P. Dutton and Co., 1928

8vo (190 x 125 mm). Illustrations by E. H. Shepard. Original endleaves bound at rear. Presentation binding by Sangorski of full tan gilt calf, upper cover with gilt device of Christopher Robin and Pooh, spine in six compartments with small character devices of Pooh, Tigger, etc., turn-in stamped "Xmas 1929" with blue morocco book label to pastedown; joints slightly dry and rubbed, some spot of staining to upper cover.

First edition, Daphne Milne's copy in an attractive gift binding.

Author A.A. Milne was fond of gifting copies to family (see previous lot for another presentation to Daphne), including a set of the Pooh books inscribed for his brother. Given the gift binding and Christmas 1929 date, the present is no doubt another gift from the author to his wife from his most famous and successful series.
