charcoal heightened with white on paper
13¾ by 10⅜ in.
34.9 by 26.4 cm
This lot will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of drawings in preparation by Martin Dieterle, Claire Lebeau and Jill Newhouse.
Inscribed 'M Robaut 192/ Paysage a l'homme accroupi' (verso, on the Japanese lining paper). The inscription on the reverse appears to have been reinforced at a later time, and it is not clear how strongly the inscription reads on the original sheet.
Charcoal heightened with white on paper laid down on Japan lining paper. The sheet is hinged to the front mat at the upper and lower edges. Artist pinholes in the upper corners. Mat and light staining. A possible small dot of abrasion at upper right. Surface dirt and dust and minor scattered foxing reco and verso. There are scattered nicks and losses to the sheet at the extreme edges. Ready to hang in its current state.
