We would like to thank Michel Schulman for confirming the authenticity of this lot, which will be included in his forthcoming catalogue raisonné on Georges Michel.
The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This work on paper has been mounted on a thin piece of board. The paper is well adhered. There are a couple of isolated thin breaks in the lower left and lower right. Some instability had developed above and in the dark trees on the left side. This instability was corrected, but there are some cracks in the paint and
restorations in the top of trees and in the lower sky. The remainder of the sky seems to be healthy, except possibly for the extreme top edge, where a small amount of abrasion may have occurred. The darker colors appear to be healthy, and the condition seems to be very good overall. The work could be carefully cleaned, and the slight yellowness in the sky in the lower left perhaps corrected.
This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller.
