The work has an old lining. In the sky there is barely visible, widely patterned craquelure, some extremely minor pin dots of surface accretion, and a small area of surface abrasion at the lower center. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green in a few isolated areas. Finely applied dots and dashes of restoration are widely scattered throughout the composition, and in larger, more complex arrangements at center above the horizon and in two areas at upper right. At the extreme edges there is broadly applied, brushy inpainting to address prior frame abrasion.
