CONVERSATION IN A MEDIEVAL CLOISTER
signed Renoux and dated 1825 (lower left)
oil on canvas
13¾ by 10¾ in.
34.9 by 27.3 cm
Original unlined condition. The surface presents well with fresh colors. Scattered faint, fine craquelure; a few very sparse pin dots of accretion; and minor frame abrasion in upper right corner. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly and remains more heavily over the signature. A small dash of inpainting to address prior craquelure in the window and a few very isolated pin dot retouches at center and upper center. Ready to hang in its current state.
